Hay Fever

The itchy and watery eyes... the sneezing... the stuffy or runny nose... the sore throats. For those that suffer, hay fever can make life pretty miserable.

There are all sorts of products on the market that offer quick and effective relief of the symptoms of hay fever. These can be great for effective short-term relief but, unfortunately, they don’t address the underlying causes. So, every year, the hay fever – and those wretched symptoms – return...

A NATURAL APPROACH

Longer term treatments of hay fever mostly involve taking steroids or medicines as part of an immune therapy (or immunotherapy) treatment. But for those looking for a more natural approach, taking bee pollen (or other bee products that contain traces of bee pollen such as honey or propolis) regularly in the months before the hay fever season has become an interesting alternative to consider.

How might bee pollen help?

In simple terms, taking bee pollen regularly aims to do the same thing as other immune therapies. By gradually exposing yourself to small doses of the cause of your allergy – in this case, pollen – you try to help the body become less sensitive to to the allergen, so that it will, in due course, react less violently to it as and when it’s exposed to it elsewhere.

DOES IT WORK?

Taking bee pollen as a natural, longer-term approach to preventing allergies has been recommended by alternative health practitioners and naturopaths in many parts of the world for years. There is also a good deal of anecdotal evidence and opinion around from people who say it has helped them personally. However, as is often the case with natural health products, there is not much hard clinical research to either support or contradict any specific benefits or claims with regard to hay fever.

Nevertheless, if you’re interested in the idea, we always recommend you read up on it and speak to your health practitioner before deciding if it’s for you.

WORTH A TRY?

If you suffer from hay fever, let us ask you one question:

If there’s just a chance that bee pollen may help with your hay fever, isn’t that something worth considering?

Of course, you can only know by trying it yourself. For most people, bee pollen is completely safe to take so there really is no downside in trying. However, be aware that a small number of people can have problems with bee pollen so if you have any doubts at all, you should speak to your health practitioner first.

And even if it doesn’t help you with your hay fever, you’ll always be enjoying its wonderful goodness - unlike other options steriods and medicines!

WHY APIBAL?

Regular bee pollen granules can be difficult for the body to break down and digest, which is why we delicately ‘freeze-crack’ our Apibal bee pollen. This process allows us to delicately break open the granules and, in doing so, to release all the goodness inside, making all the bee pollen’s goodness easy to absorb and ready to start working.

Filled into easy-to-swallow capsules, Apibal offers a convenient way to take the best bee pollen around.
